“When I was travelling to Rajasthan people were waving hands and it felt like I was visiting my own constituency” Indulge in the glorious expressive heritage of Rajasthan. Jaisalmer! Or “The Golden City” is city is located in the Indian State of Rajasthan. The golden city stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone and was crowned with the ancient Jaisalmer fort. As the legends go; Lord Krishna ruler of Yadav dynasty told Arjuna {on of the pandava} that a successor belonging from the Yadav dynasty will set up his kingdom on Trikuta hill. Alas, in the year 1196 the prediction made by lord Krishna came true, when Rawal Jaiswal a descendant of Yadav dynasty clan founded the Golden fort and established his kingdom in Jaisalmer. Celebrations were organized throughout the kingdom when people came to know the prophecy has come true.

THE FESTIVAL Dessert festival of Jaisalmer is a colourful festival held every year in the month of February. The exotic dessert festival amidst the golden sands of THE THAR DESSERT. The place is filled with cultural events, camel races, turban tying competition. Not exciting enough! Attend the contests to judge the man with best moustache. The moustache competition is very popular among the foreigners. This just attaches a surprise value to this event. Your heart and eyes will never forget marvels like Fire dancers. The three day long extravaganza ends with a small trip to Sam Sand Dunes, marking the grand finale of the festival. Here you can enjoy the bumpy camel rides and the performances by the folk singers under the Moonlit Sky.
